As we all know, many parts of the Western U.S. have been suffering from devastating wildfires this summer. The lives of 30 brave firefighters have been lost as well as over 950 homes and 30 commercial buildings. At present there are 48 large, active fires and over 1 billion has been spent thus far in the 2013 Battle of the Blaze.

While data is not yet available for 2013, the insured loss amounts for wildfires in the U.S. will be of epic proportions.

Drought and fire suppression in the form of increased populations in wildland interface areas are two contributors to these big burns. In addition, climate change has resulted on hotter, drier, longer summers which exacerbates the problem. The bad news it that fire season is far from over. California is especially active in late October.

Does Eberl work wildfire losses? Absolutely.

We have deployed to the Los Alamos, San Diego/San Bernardino, Oakland Bay and most recently the Waldo Canyon and High Park fires (just to name a few). Check out the fire loss pics below taken by our adjusters.
