97 Pouring Rain… Looking Ahead


Heavy thunderstorms are generating a decent amount of precipitation as the system approaches Puerto Rico. Even if it fails to strengthen it will be dropping plenty more rain over Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands today and tomorrow. The UKMET model is calling for 97 to reach tropical depression status on Saturday, while the GFS and European models give low odds for development in the next few days… Either way, it is looking like 97 will move very far from U.S. shores. Bermuda may feel some effects however…

Another strong wave is set to roll off the coast of Africa on Saturday, but is unlikely to develop.

This should change soon.

According to Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski, “Hurricane formation in the Atlantic is overdue and is soon likely to shift in favor of multiple tropical systems.”


The article, written by Alex Sosnowski,  Expert Senior Meteorologist with AccuWeather.com, adds that- For those that follow computer models, for the first time this season multiple models are showing significant development of a hurricane over the Atlantic, but not until around September 10th or later…
