Apologies to Boy George, but we just could not resist!
Tropical storm Karen came to life this morning with respectable 60 mph sustained winds. She will work her way through the Gulf on northwesterly track and should make landfall Saturday along the western Florida Panhandle.
Of course the biggest variable for Karen will be intensity. The NHC gave a 28% chance Karen will reach hurricane status by the weekend, which would pose a real threat to parts of the Panhandle. Whether she reaches hurricane status or not, Karen will definitely be a rainmaker for portions of the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Florida.
Karen- you have caught our attention… We will be watching you intently over the next few days!
