Vilona, AR- EF4 Tornado

Mother Nature went into overdrive for the last week of April with round after round of severe weather outbreaks. Lethal tornadoes, dangerous flooding and nasty thunderstorms have created over a billion dollars in damage and left 39 dead. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has a preliminary count of 133 tornadoes from April 27-30 over 14 states. Damages are still being surveyed, so these figures will likely change. Two EF-4 tornadoes have been recorded from the outbreak; one in Villonia, AR. that claimed 15 lives and another in Louisville, MS. that killed nine. Two people were killed in Iowa from a twister that traveled a remarkable 46 miles, maintaining ground contact the entire time.

Pensacola, Mobile and much of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast saw torrential rains causing serious flooding in some areas. According to the Mobile/Pensacola National Weather Service, the 5.68″ of rain fall in 1 hour on April 29th,  was between a 1 to 200 and 1 to 500 year event.  The two day estimated total from April 29-30 for Pensacola of 20.47″ lies between a 1 in 100 to 1 in 200 year event.

Events like these give adjusters the chance to do what they do best- help people rebuild their lives and restore hope in times of hardship and uncertainty.
