Trouble Brewing in the Gulf

By June 15, 2015February 3rd, 2020No Comments

91L is churning in the Gulf of Mexico and has the potential to develop into a tropical disturbance today. With warm waters and a moist environment, the conditions are favorable to support a tropical storm and the National Hurricane Center gave 2-day and 5-day odds of development of 20% and 30%, respectively. However, even if the system does not develop significantly, there is great threat for torrential rain, flash flooding and river flooding  for parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri.

The flash flood threat for coastal Texas will begin late tomorrow and spread into east, north and central parts of the state from Wednesday through Thursday. The flood threat for Oklahoma, western Arkansas and southwest Missouri will extend from late Wednesday to Friday. Louisiana will receive the heaviest rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.

All in all, it’s looking like another wet week ahead for our friends in the South. Many of these areas already experienced flooding from record rainfall last month, so this additional moisture will be most unwelcome…
